My husband and I moved to Bend almost 20 years ago. Our two teenage sons have grown up here and have been in our Bend-La Pine Schools since kindergarten. It has been a priority of mine to be involved in their schools and I have enjoyed being a classroom helper, leading book clubs, participating in Youth Challenge Day, and chaperoning field trips.
I have worked with children for the last 25 years as a Speech-Language Pathologist. I've served children in the public education system, a non-profit, and now my own private practice. Many of the children I work with have special needs so I understand how important it is that our school district meet the needs of all unique learners.
I enjoy being an active leader in our Central Oregon community. I am on the Advisory Board for Central Oregon Disability Support Network and serve on the Grant Review Committee for Adler's Voice, a non-profit dedicated to providing resources and support for children with complex communication challenges. I serve on the Leadership Committee for Oregon League of Conservation Voters and the Bend-La Pine Gun Safety Coalition Board of Directors.
My experience in our schools as a volunteer paired with my career working with children and owning a small business have provided me with skills that translate well into being an effective school board member.
